Busy at Home

Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. ~ Titus 2:3

We hear, sometimes, this talk about Titus 2 women.  Sometimes I have heard grumbling about why there aren't more of them around and why they aren’t doing what God asks them to do.  We long for this guidance and input.  God designed us to pour out into our families and then, at a certain stage of life, to turn and pour into others so that they may be blessed with our wisdom: the hard-earned wisdom of experience.

One thing I love about blogging is all the friends I have been surprised to make around the globe as we write together with common purpose and kindred hearts.  I have been blessed to be invited to be a guest over at "Teaching What is Good" today as I write about the role of older women in the lives of young moms and wives.  Come read the rest of my post about how we receive wisdom and pour into others' lives over here.

I'll be back here at HeartsHomeward for my usual Wednesday Parenting Wisdom next Wednesday to discuss Discipline vs. Punishment.

Hi Patty! I"m stopping by from Bonnie's today.
I"m in the same place that you are! My best friend is also in a place where we aren't able to talk or email much at all. I'd be lying if I said it didn't hurt. She is going back to school to finish her degree in ministry all while juggling a career and family. I know that God has amazing things in store for her. So, while she isn't as readily available as she once was, I need to draw near to the Father and allow him to fill the lonely places.

Thanks for sharing. This truly blessed me tonight :)

Krista ~
I am so glad you shared here. I always pray before I write, and I trust God to lead me and then to use my writing for someone if He will. I was a bit hesitant to be so exposed about my grief, but then I felt sure that I should share it when I prayed. I am so glad God used it as a balm for you. It is true that He gives us these special friendships and relationships to help us bridge to Him and He blesses them that way. He also has seasons where He allows the distance to be there so that we can lean on Him more and even exclusively. I will pray for you right now as you lean into the lonely places and find them not empty, but full of His presence.
