Home Education

Over here we educate at home using the principles and methods of Charlotte Mason.  We glean great ideas and resources from places like Ambleside Online and Simply Charlotte Mason as well as suggestions from other homeschool moms and websites.  We love reading old books (they really are the best).  We use resources such as Yesterday's Classics, Gutenberg and the Baldwin Project to gain access to much of what we enjoy.  Our days are often filled with ideas from history, literature, art, music, foreign languages and science.  We love spending time outdoors and try to take a walk in nature at least once a week -- preferably with our paints and notebooks.  We are imperfectly but steadily growing in this journey of learning together.

In this section of my blog I will link posts which discuss Charlotte Mason and her philosophies or methods.  I will also share some of our "growing pains" as we walk in grace.  I'll give some practical ideas as to how to home educate.  Some posts will deal with deeper questions which give an underpinning to homeschooling (and parenting) and why we do what we do.
