If all is still
There is a whisper
Soft and gentle and powerful like the wind
His voice is still
He calls it small
But there is no small thing in His voice
When I am still there is still a rumbling
Movement beneath the attempts to let go
We reverberate with leftovers from our busyness
Yet, in moments, there is something else
I touch the peace and I can hear
The whisper
He breathes a gentle love song
He assures my soul I am treasured and held
He gives me words to share with others
It is from this anchored place
Inspired by His whisper
That I can move out in extended love to others
And return to seek Him
More of me seeking more of Him
Going out once more and returning like a tide of love
Whispering echoes of His still small voice into thirsty souls

just writing on one word for five minutes ...

Wow. So much to savor in this poetry. I will bookmark and reread this again. Thanks for sharing with FMF!
Oh, Holly, Thank you. I am so glad you visited and were blessed. Honored to be a bookmark for you. Come back any time.
Beautiful! "It is from this anchored place inspired by His whisper that I can move out in extended love to others." I've been thinking about this anchor lately. I cannot give anything unless I anchor in Him and allow His whispers to feed my soul.
Barbie,
Yes! He is the anchor that holds us in our stormy days and even the anchor which gives us stability when things are calmer. I spent a year in John 15 several years ago and it was so good to digest and re-read and marinate in the truth of that abiding ... and without Him I can do nothing of value or use ... and how we abide in Him and His love as He abides in the Father ... all such relational goodness. My sons and I have been singing the hymn "A Mighty Fortress is Our God" in the mornings for a few weeks and in there a line struck me deeply: "If we in our own strength confide - our striving would be losing ... were not the Right Man on our side, the Man of God's own choosing." I could relate to confiding in my own strength, to striving and to losing. Prone to wander!! But He is merciful and He knows our frame. He has rest and mercy and grace for us over, and over, and over, and over again. And love - what love!
Love you ~ Patty
Great heartfelt words. I can feel the sincerity of the words that you typed out here.
Yes, the whisper is powerful.
Sounds like weird, emotional-driven, nonsense to many, but not to those who have "ears to hear".
Cheers,
Leah
Thank you, Leah. I was one of those - for years - who thought these types of experiences were emotional and nonsense, or at least too good to be true for me. I am so grateful to be able to hear what once was white noise or emptiness to me.
From this anchored place...love that imagery.
Thanks, Rachel! So glad you popped by today :)
